LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and FedEx teamed up to encourage reading among fourth and fifth grade students at the Redskins Read FedEx Special Delivery event on Monday, Sept. 19 at Bancroft Elementary School in Washington, D.C.
Redskins Players Anthony Lanier II and Isaiah Williams along with FedEx spent the afternoon getting fourth and fifth grade students at Bancroft Elementary School excited for the start of the 2016-17 Redskins Read Program. In the second year of the program, Bancroft was one of 117 schools selected throughout the D.C. metro area to participate in the program, aimed at providing a supplemental classroom tool for fourth and fifth grade students focusing on reading, writing and vocabulary.
This event celebrated the eighth year the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and FedEx have joined forces to deliver thousands of Redskins Read Playbooks to schools throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area. The Playbook is approved by the Redskins Charitable Foundation's Education Advisory Council (EAC). The EAC is comprised of select academic leaders from the market who work in partnership with the leadership of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation to shape the Foundation programs offered to area schools.
Over the years, the Redskins Charitable Foundation and FedEx have delivered more than 1.9 million books across the region.
