LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Alumni Association will host the 58th Annual Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon Presented by GCO Consulting Group at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 12 – 2 p.m.
This event heralds the beginning of the 2019 Redskins season and is the only event where fans and corporate partners have the opportunity to spend time with the entire Washington Redskins organization, including players, coaches, cheerleaders and alumni. Fans can welcome the team back from Training Camp, pay tribute to milestones achieved on and off the field, and raise money to support youth programs across the region.
This year's event will feature Academy Award™ Winning Actor and founder of the just keep livin Foundation Matthew McConaughey as a special guest. McConaughey will take part in a Q&A with event emcee Lindsay Czarniak to share his Redskins fandom and discuss the connection between the Redskins Charitable Foundation and just keep livin.
The Redskins Community Man of the Year Award presented by The Embassy of the State of Qatar honors one player for their involvement in the community. The 2018 award recipient, tight end Vernon Davis, has supported a variety of events and activities through the team, his own foundation and the events of his teammates. Being from the D.C. area, his hometown connection makes his impact even greater.
The Redskins Salute Award presented by Texas Oil Group honors one player or community member for their support of our U.S. military members and their families. This year's award recipient, defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, comes from a military family – his father and uncle served in the army, while his two brothers serve in the military. Introducing Allen will be celebrity chef, veteran and military advocate, Chef Andre Rush.
Three Redskins players will also be honored at the event for their efforts on the field with the following 2018 season awards. The Sam Huff Defensive Player of the Year Award presented by Trustar Bank, the Bobby Mitchell Offensive Player of the Year Award, and the Mark Moseley Special Teams Player of the Year Award presented by Five Guys.
